Tour Highlights

Itinerary – 2-Day Tour from Fes To Marrakech

Day 1: Fes → Ifrane → Azrou → Midelt → Ziz Valley → Merzouga (≈467 km, 7–8 h):

Your adventure begins with an 8:00 a.m. pickup from your Fes riad. The road climbs through the Middle Atlas Mountains.

First, you will reach Ifrane, where French-built chalets and manicured gardens have earned it the nickname “the Switzerland of Morocco.” Next, you will pause in the Azrou cedar forest to feed a troop of Barbary macaques in their natural habitat.

Then, continue to Midelt, the “Apple Valley,” for a hearty lunch. In the afternoon, you will traverse the Ziz Valley, whose endless palm groves stretch along the river canyon.

Arrive in Merzouga late in the day and meet your camels for a one- to one-to-one-and-a-half-hour sunset trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes. Then, settle into your desert camp for a Berber tagine and drumming around the fire under a star-filled sky.

Rise before dawn to witness the sun rising over the Sahara—the dunes glowing in soft pinks and golds. Afterwards, enjoy breakfast at camp.

After breakfast at the campsite, return to the village of Merzouga by camel or 4×4 vehicle. Then, head west to Rissani and explore its bustling souk of spices and leather goods.

Drive through the Draa Valley, where date palms sway beside adobe villages. Then, continue to Ouarzazate for lunch and explore the Taourirt Kasbah.

In the late afternoon, arrive at Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site comprised of sun-baked clay towers. Then, continue to Marrakech. Finally, cross the Tizi N’Tichka Pass, stopping at high-altitude viewpoints along the way, and descend into Marrakech by around 7 p.m.
