Tour Highlights

Itinerary – 2-Day Tour from Fes To Merzouga desert

Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Merzouga:

Your private driver will pick you up at 8:30 a.m. from your Fes riad, and you will head east into the Middle Atlas Mountains. In Ifrane, known as “Morocco’s Switzerland,” you are greeted by alpine chalets and a crisp mountain breeze.

A short drive will bring you to the Azrou Cedar Forest, home to troops of Barbary macaques that forage among ancient cedars. Stop to take photos and breathe in the fresh forest air. As the sound of camel bells fades behind you, you descend through the Ziz Valley.

It’s 280 kilometers of palm trees lining a river canyon that disappears into the Sahara sands. Stop for lunch at a Berber café overlooking the valley. Then, continue through Erfoud, where workshops carve 400-million-year-old fossils into souvenirs.

In the late afternoon, you will arrive at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes in Merzouga. Mount your camel for a one- to two-hour sunset trek across rolling golden hills, culminating at a remote luxury camp. Settle into your tent, enjoy a fragrant tagine, and listen to Berber drumming under a starry sky.

Wake up before dawn to witness the stunning Sahara sunrise. The dunes silently shift from indigo to molten gold as the desert breeze whispers through the air.

Back at camp, enjoy a hearty Berber breakfast of fresh bread, eggs, and mint tea. Your driver will be waiting to take you back to Merzouga village by camel or 4×4.

Depart at 9:30 a.m. Retrace your steps, stopping in Rissani to explore its aromatic souk and sample date-palm delicacies. Continue through Erfoud and the Ziz Valley once more, capturing the area in a new light.

Have lunch in Midelt’s “Apple Valley” to refuel for the final leg of the journey through Azrou’s cedars and Ifrane’s alpine-style streets.

You’ll arrive back in Fes by 6:00 PM, dropped off at your riad with memories of a desert adventure that combines culture, nature, and authentic Moroccan hospitality.
