Tour Highlights

Itinerary – 6 Days tour from Tangier to Marrakech

Day 1: Tangier → Chefchaouen → Fes (≈305 km; ~5 h)

Your driver will greet you in the courtyard of the Kasbah Palace in Tangier, which overlooks the Strait of Gibraltar. As you wander the Grand Socco, you absorb the city’s Mediterranean flair.

To the north, the Rif Mountains rise, and olive groves give way to the cobalt ramparts of Chefchaouen, the “Blue Pearl,” which is nestled at an elevation of 560 meters.

In the medina, you explore the Kasbah, the Grand Mosque, and the Ras el Ma spring, where mountain water tumbles into town. After enjoying a rooftop lunch with a view of terraced alleys, continue to Fes through green valleys. Arrive by late afternoon and settle into a riad within the labyrinthine lanes of Fes el-Bali, soaking in its medieval pulse.

Meet your local guide at Bab Bou Jeloud at dawn to step inside the world’s oldest living medina. Wander through the kaleidoscopic dye vats of the Chouara tannery, where hides swirl through rose-scented pits.

Visit the library of Al Qarawiyyin University, founded in 859 AD, and marvel at the filigreed courtyard of Bou Inania Madrasa. Stroll through souks filled with spices, brassware, and ceramics.

After enjoying a rooftop lunch with a view of the tile-clad minarets, explore the gates of the Royal Palace in Fes Jdid and the Mellah Jewish Quarter. In the evening, you can lose yourself among hidden riad courtyards or sample harira soup by lamplight.

Cross the cedar-covered Middle Atlas Mountains and pause in Ifrane’s “Little Switzerland” to see Alpine-style villas nestled in evergreen parks. In the Azrou cedar forest, playful Barbary macaques forage beneath towering trunks. The apple orchards of Midelt’s highlands are perfect for a riverside lunch.

Then, descend into the date-palm gallery of the Ziz Valley. In Erfoud, you can glimpse ancient marine fossils at local workshops. By late afternoon, the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi appear. A camel caravan will carry you to a desert camp where Berber tents and a crackling fire await you beneath an ink-black sky.

Awaken before sunrise to watch the dunes blush pink and gold. Then, return to camp for a hearty Berber breakfast. In the mid-morning, take a 4×4 excursion to explore the Hassi Labied oasis and seasonal desert lakes.

You will visit Khamlia, home to Gnawa families of Sub-Saharan descent, and listen to soul-stirring rituals passed down through the centuries. You can try sandboarding on hidden slopes and enjoy mint tea with a nomadic family under their tent.

After having lunch in the village of Merzouga, you will remount the camels for a- to one-and-a-half-hour sunset ride back to camp. The day will end with drumming around the fire and spending the night in your Berber tent.

Rise early for one last dune-top sunrise, then enjoy breakfast beneath the desert palms. Depart for Rissani’s weekly souk, held on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, where bustling stalls are filled with dates and leather wares.

Then, continue to Tinghir and enter the narrow Todra Gorge. A 30-minute riverside walk here reveals 300-meter-tall limestone walls cloaked in palms.

After lunch, the “Road of a Thousand Kasbahs” will wind you into the Dades Valley, where the monkey-finger rock formations glow at dusk. Check into a cliff-edge riad and enjoy the terraces overlooking the sculpted valley floor.

After breakfast, explore the hidden kasbahs scattered throughout the Dades palm groves. In Ouarzazate, stop at the Taourirt Kasbah, also known as the “Gateway to the Sahara.” Then, the road ascends to the Tizi N’Tichka Pass (7,413 ft), offering sweeping panoramas of the High Atlas Mountains.

Then, descend to the UNESCO site of Ait Ben Haddou, whose ochre towers line the riverbank and have set the scene for countless films. After lunch beside the ancient walls, drive into Marrakech. Arrive by early evening at the city’s red ramparts and pulsating Jemaa el-Fnaa square. Your six-day odyssey is now complete.
