Tour Highlights

Itinerary – 6 Days Tour from Casablanca to Marrakech

Day 1: Casablanca to Rabat’s Riverside Grandeur

Your adventure begins the moment you step off the plane in Casablanca. As your private driver navigates you past sleek glass towers toward the Hassan II Mosque, the humid Atlantic breeze carries the echo of the call to prayer. Glistening marble pavements stretch beneath your feet, and the ocean’s surf laps just meters away.

Every angle of this monumental minaret is picture-perfect. After lingering over mint tea in the mosque’s shaded arcade, follow the coastal road north to the royal city of Rabat.

There, the blue-and-white ramparts of the Oudaya Kasbah rise above the Bou Regreg River, framing a postcard-perfect panorama of fishermen’s boats and ochre fort walls.

As the sun sets, you wander through manicured Andalusian gardens before settling into a riad overlooking the pink sandstone pillars of the Hassan Tower. Their lights glow like lanterns against the night sky.

At dawn, your drive to Fès winds through rolling wheat fields and olive groves. By mid-morning, you arrive at Fès el-Bali, the world’s oldest medieval city. Here, the streets narrow into honeycomb alleys scented with cedarwood smoke and rosewater.

A local guide will lead you past dye-vat tanneries where artisans skillfully soften leather in knee-deep vats in a centuries-old fashion. You pause on a rooftop terrace to take in panoramic views of the terracotta rooftops punctuated by minarets.

Then, you slip into the serene courtyards of the Bou Inania Madrasa, where the zellige mosaics shimmer in shafts of sunlight. As evening falls, you share a tagine at a hidden garden café while the calls of nighttime muezzins echo off centuries-old walls.

As you depart Fès behind the wheel of your air-conditioned 4×4, you steadily climb into the Middle Atlas range. In Ifrane, nicknamed “Little Switzerland,” snow-topped chalets and manicured parks evoke a fairy-tale village.

A short trek through the surrounding cedar forests may reveal mischievous Barbary macaques, whose curious eyes track your every move among the towering trunks. By lunchtime, you’ll be in Midelt, where you can sample sweet local apples at a sheltered café before the road plunges into the palm-lined Ziz Valley.

Here, emerald groves mirror themselves in ancient irrigation channels, and mud-brick kasbahs perch on rocky promontories. As dusk ripples the Erg Chebbi dunes of Merzouga into molten gold, you board a gentle caravan of camels, whose measured swaying sends you deeper into the desert’s hush. Your luxury khaima tent awaits, with beds turned down beneath a canopy of stars so vivid that they feel within arm’s reach.

Long before dawn, your guide will awaken you with steaming mint tea. You will climb a nearby dune just in time to watch the sun ignite the Sahara in hues of rose and apricot. After returning to camp for a hearty breakfast of fresh bread and honey, you cruise through Rissani’s bustling market in a 4×4.

Its stalls are piled high with carpets, spices, and earthenware. In Erfoud, you visit workshops where fossils, once entombed in seabed marbles, are polished into museum-quality slabs. Then, the route threads through the canyon of Todra Gorge, whose sheer cliffs soar 300 meters overhead.

Their red sandstone walls reflect the afternoon light like stained glass. By sunset, you have reached the Dades Valley, where the wind-sculpted “Monkey Fingers” rock pinnacles stand guard over a quiet kasbah hotel. You dine on tagine beneath a sky still warm from the day.

The morning light draws you east to the perfumed fields of Kalaa M’Gouna. There, thousands of rose bushes, harvested each May, perfume the air with a sweet, heady scent. Meander through stalls stacked with rosewater, oils, and artisanal soaps.

Then, continue to Skoura’s lush palm oasis and take a stroll through its dappled pathways. In Ouarzazate, nicknamed the “Hollywood of Africa,” you wander through Atlas Studios, where life-sized sets from Lawrence of Arabia to Game of Thrones remain.

The highlight of the afternoon is Ait Ben Haddou, a red-clay fortress rising in tiers above a dry riverbed. As evening falls, the mud-brick walls glow like embers in the setting sun, and each tower whispers tales of ancient caravans and epic film crews.

On your final day, you will drive up and over the spectacular Tizi-n-Tichka mountain pass in the High Atlas Mountains, which sits at an elevation of 2,260 meters. The hairpin turns offer sweeping vistas of snow-capped peaks and lush green valleys below.

Midway through the journey, you pause at a Berber village café for mint tea beside a warming fireplace, sharing stories with the locals before descending toward Marrakech.

As you approach the city, the ochre ramparts peek through the olive groves. You can sense Marrakech’s vibrant pulse: the distant hum of scooter horns, the call of street-side storytellers, and the scent of coriander and grilled meats drifting through the ancient souks.

Your driver will drop you off at the entrance to Jemaa el-Fna Square or your riad’s carved cedar doors. You will leave with five landscapes and countless memories, the perfect opening chapter to your Moroccan story.
